Oats are a good source of beta-glucan which is proven effective in lowering blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Apple is a treasure house of vitamins like Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin K. Along with these vitamins; apples are also rich in dietary fiber and minerals like phosphorus & magnesium. Milk is a good source of calcium and dairy protein. Addition of nuts will make it healthier as they shall provide you with good fats. As this recipe does not have any sugar, it is suitable for diabetics.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Oats [coarsely powdered] - 15 g
  • Apple [grated] - ½ cup  
  • Milk - 1 cup [100 ml]
  • Almond/ Walnut [crushed] - 1 tsp 
  • Flax seed [roasted] - 1 tsp

DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Heat the milk in a deep non-stick pan and bring it to a boil. Step 2 Add the powdered oats, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously. Step 3 Remove from the flame, keep aside to coul slightly.  Step 4 Add the apple, crushed almonds or walnuts, roasted flax seeds, mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.  Step 5 Serve chilled.
