Agar is 80% fibre, contains no fat, and only a small amount of carbohydrate. Due to high level of fibre, agar is used as dietary aid to promote fullness. China grass pudding is a low calorie, delicious dessert.


  • China grass/Agar Agar 2 gm
  • Milk 1 cup (100ml)
  • Water 1/2 cup
  • Walnut/ almond grated or crushed: ½ tsp
  • Fresh fruit pulp: Apples 20g (stew the apple and make a puree)

Step 1 In a wide bowl, take 1/2 cup of water.  Step 2 Add the china grass and soak it for few minutes.  Step 3 In the meantime, boil milk & fresh fruit pulp. Step 4 Take the soaked china grass along with water and boil in medium flame. Stir well until it dissolves completely.  Step 5 Now add this china grass water through the strainer to the boiling milk.Keep the flame medium and mix well for a minute. Turn off the flame, add grated or crushed nuts. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour. It would be well set .Remove and serve immediately.

Phool Makhana Kheer

Due to its high fiber content it gives a feeling of fullness for long time, it is easily digestible. Milk is a good source of calcium which is important for bones. Sunflower seed has good quality of fat.
