Khichdi is an easy to digest healthy indian food prepared with a combination of rice with lentils. The combination of rice, lentils and ghee provides you with carbohydrates, proteins, dietary fibre, Vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Rice: moong dal - 3:1 ratio ( store it in air-tight container & use 2tbsp of it)
  • Water - 1 ½ to 2 cups
  • Mustard Seeds - ½ tsp
  • Ginger - ½ tsp
  • Cloves - 1
  • Cinnamon -  ¼ tsp
  • Garlic - ½ tsp
  • Ghee - ½ tsp
  • store it in air-tight container & use 2 tbsp of it.
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Clean, wash the rice and moong dal together and soak in enough water for an hour. Step 2 Drain and keep aside. Step 3 Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker and add the cloves, cinnamon and mustard seeds. Step 4 When the seeds crackle, add the ginger and garlic saute for 30 seconds. Step 5 Add the rice, moong dal,  and salt, mix well and add 5 cups of water and mix well. Step 6 Cover and pressure cook for 3 whistles or till cooked. Step 7 Serve hot.
