As the name would suggest, Paneer and green pea burgers are ought to be high on proteins and fibers and thus the healthiest version of a vegetarian burger. Prepared with Whole wheat burger buns that are high in fiber & more nutritious than our regular maida buns, this recipe manages to provide so many essential nutrients in a dish that is adored by everyone. Green peas are high in antioxidants, contain good amounts of minerals, proteins & fiber. Paneer delivers high biological value protein, which is absorbed in our bodies at a much higher rate.  Prepare thesenutritionally dense burgers and enjoy this luscious meal with friends and family!

INGREDIENTS:
For The Cutlets:
  • Crumbled paneer - ¼ cup
  • Boiled and crushed green peas - ¼ cup
  • Boiled peeled and mashed potatoes - 1 tbsp 
  • Green chili paste - ½ tsp
  • Coriander leaves [chopped] - 1 tbsp
  • Whole wheat bread crumbs - 1 tbsp 
  • Salt to taste
  • Whole wheat bread crumbs for coating
  • Oil for deep-frying - 2 tbsp

Other Ingredients:
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2 nos.
  • Butter - 2 tsp 
  • Lettuce leaves - 2 nos
  • Eggless mayonnaise - 2 tbsp 
  • Tomato [thinly sliced] - ½ big
  • Onions [sliced] - 2 nos
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper powder to taste

Accompaniment:
  • Tomato ketchup - 1 tsp
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Step 2 Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a 100 mm. [4”] thick flat cutlet. Step 3 Rull each cutlet in bread crumbs till they are evenly coated from both the sides. Step 4 Heat the oil in a kadhai and deep-fry the cutlets till they turn gulden brown in culour from both the sides. Step 5 Drain on absorbent paper and keep aside.How to proceed: Step 6 Cut a bun horizontally into two. Step 7 Butter the bun halves using 1 tsp of butter and toast them lightly on a tava (griddle). Keep aside. Step 8 Place the lower half of the bun on a clean, dry surface with the buttered side facing up. Step 9 Place a lettuce leaf on the bun and spread 1½ tbsp of the mayonnaise over it. Step 10 Place a cutlet, a few tomato slices and an onion slice over the cutlet. Finally sprinkle salt and pepper over it. Step 11 Cover with the remaining half of the bun with the buttered side facing down and press it lightly. Step 12 Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 3 more burgers.How to pack: Step 13 Insert a toothpick in the centre of each burger and wrap in an aluminium foil or cling film and pack in a tiffin box along with tomato ketchup.
