Poshto is a traditional Bengali recipe. The healthier modification is the addition of sweet potato, which has got numerous health benefits. These orange-hued delights are loaded with fiber, beta-carotene , vitamins A, B6, C, and Antioxidants. Plus, since they're fairly low on the glycemic index, they're great for filling up without getting weighed down.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Sweet potato [cubes] - 75 g
  • Poppy seeds - 1 tsp
  • Oil - ½ tsp
  • Kala jeera - ½ tsp
  • Green chilli [slit] - 2 nos
  • Salt - as per taste
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Dry roast the poppy seeds on a tava (griddle) for 3 to 4 minutes. Step 2 Grind coarsely in a mixer and keep aside. Step 3 Heat the oil in a pan, add the kalonji, green chilli, and ground poppy seeds, and saute for 1 minute. Step 4 Add the sweet potatoes and salt, toss well. Step 5 Serve hot.
